“Theatre of the Oppressed through Multimedia Lens”

“Theatre of the Oppressed through Multimedia Lens” is a capacity building project under Erasmus +programme which aim to involve 8 youth organizations from Western Balkan and EU which work in inclusion field through the empowerment and support of youth workers with effective tools in multimedia and theatre of the oppressed techniques adding quality to youth work in local and international level.
The project offers an innovative blend of innovative tools in theatre of the oppressed and multimedia work with addressing a key emerging challenge for European youth – social inclusion and respect for human rights. Topics to be elaborated in the project are: social inclusion versus social exclusion, Human Rights Education, Inclusion, Anti-discrimination, Intolerance and xenophobia, Theatre and Multimedia as a powerful tool for empowerment of young people, Theatre of the oppressed as a tool promote
Erasmus+ Youth as a tool for active citizenship and participation in social life of young people as a tool or social transformation and social inclusion, Exchanges of best practices and effective tools, Multimedia as a tool for future employment, Discussion of challenges met in youth work and provide solution based in experiences accumulated, Non formal education tools as a bridge for overcoming transition to work and labour market, employment strategies in European and national level, Building new bridges for European cooperation in youth work.
The first Mobility of the project is this training course which was held in Durres Albania from 7 till 15 December 2017, in AS Hotel in Durres. In total 32 participants from 8 partner organisations, 4 trainers and facilitators and 3 staff were part of the project. The training focused in exploring social exclusion in each country and learning how to address social inclusion through tools of multimedia and theatre of the oppressed.

Power of Multimedia – Bridges of Diversity

Power of Multimedia – Bridges of Diversity is the newest project of “Youth4Society” Assocciation, which is funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus + program.

The project was developed by Y4S organisation, in co-operation with other partners of the consortium and a group of young leaders from Tirana, as a joint educational and social initiative, in order to address the need of youth workers and youth leaders in using multimedia and photography in promoting cultural diversity.

The main aim of the project is to develop the competences of European youth workers in the use of multimedia tools in youth work, mostly through photography and video to promote the positive image of cultural diversity.

During the project we will explore key elements that refer to cultural diversity such as: personal cultural backgrounds, identity, nationality, religion and beliefs, cultural sensitivity, prejudices and stereotypes.

Project objectives:

-to develop competences of European youth workers, notably in the field of using multimedia and fostering cultural diversity

-to review and address essential knowledge, skills and attitudes for youth workers/activists working with disadvantaged target groups to offer to them practical tools how to work within cultural diversity

-to develop transversal skills of young people by using non-formal learning to develop their multimedia and communication skills

-to promote cultural diversity as a resource for our society and stress its positive sides;

-to provide concrete tools to participants through use of visual art (photography, video) fostering employability skills especially for youngsters with disadvantage background -to promote Erasmus+Youth as a tool for active citizenship and participation in social life of young people

The Project is divided in three main phases:

Activity 1: Training Course  – Cultural Diversity through Multimedia

The training course aims to develop competences of youth workers in using multimedia to promote cultural diversity for and with young people

Activity 2: Youth Exchange:  Bring the change

The youth exchange aims to bring together young people/ members/activists of our organisations to raise awareness about importance of cultural diversity and use multimedia and NFE as a tool for active participation and youth employment especially for youngsters with fewer opportunities.

Activity 3: Seminar  – Bridges of Diversity.

The activity aims to bring together youth workers to exchange experiences, analyze needs and trends about culture diversity, and use different tools (networking & multimedia) to raise awareness and generating solutions for engagement of youngsters in promotion of cultural diversity.
