Young people shaping their communities
Youth4Society (Y4S) is a voluntary, non-profit, non-governmental and non-political organisation based in Tirana, Albania. We support young people to participate in civil society and contribute to positive social change through education, volunteering and practical community activities.
Our story
Youth4Society was founded in September 2007 by a group of young people aged 17–33 living in Tirana. Their experience in European youth exchanges, seminars, training courses and youth-rights campaigns inspired them to create more opportunities for young people in Albania.
Our members brought experience from volunteering with youth associations, where they developed knowledge and skills that supported their personal and social development. Building on this experience, the organisation set out to expand its activities across Albania.
Our original organisational profile described a community of nearly 50 members aged 15–35, mainly social-science students. It also recorded partnerships in projects across the Balkans and smaller local initiatives with Albanian NGOs. These figures describe the organisation at the time of that profile.
