Youth in Action: a tool for youth empowerment

Youth in Action was the European Union programme described in our 2009 archive. It aimed to encourage active European citizenship, solidarity and tolerance, and to involve young people in shaping Europe’s future.

The programme supported mobility within and beyond the EU, non-formal learning and intercultural dialogue. It promoted inclusion regardless of educational, social or cultural background and targeted young people aged 13–30.

Together for a better future

• Promote active citizenship, including European citizenship.
• Develop solidarity and tolerance to strengthen social cohesion.
• Encourage mutual understanding among young people in different countries.
• Improve support for youth activities and strengthen civil-society organisations working with young people.
• Promote European cooperation in the youth field.
